MEGADETH Drummer Checks In From Germany

March 9, 2008

MEGADETH drummer Shawn Drover has issued the following update:

"As I sit here in beautiful Munich, Germany, having drank way too much coffee, I just realized that we have been on this current 'United Abominations' world tour for one year!! Man, we have played so many killer shows in so many great places, and although we are still in the thick of it all, it puts a smile on my face having done so much in the past year.

"The last two shows had us headlining a few different festivals with some good friends of ours, namely OVERKILL and my buds in THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, both of which I enjoyed watching very much. Real exciting stuff to watch for me, and it was nice having a chat with all of them, though of course DD [Verni, OVERKILL bassist] and Blitz [OVERKILL singer] had to give me a bullocking for their Giants winning the Superbowl. That's OK, though, as they are fully aware that my Steelers are a shoe in for the super bowl next season but this is another conversation for another time (We all verbally torture each other via e-mail during the NFL season, so this is nothing new, my friends).

"OK, enough of that.

"All is good out here, we are healthy and happy one year into it. Get ready for Gigantour, people — it is going to be a blast!!!!"

MEGADETH's February 4, 2008 concert in Helsinki, Finland marked the band's live debut with new guitarist Chris Broderick, who has previously played with JAG PANZER and NEVERMORE.

The third installment of the U.S. Gigantour — the acclaimed traveling heavy music festival launched in 2005 by MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine — will launch April 12 in Denver, CO with headliner MEGADETH, Swedish metal band IN FLAMES, Finland's CHILDREN OF BODOM, Arizona's modern extreme JOB FOR A COWBOY and Oakland, CA heavy power trio HIGH ON FIRE all confirmed. The 29-date trek will criss-cross North America and wraps May 22 in Phoenix, AZ.
